Install on Amazon Fire TV Stick
Fire TV is one of the most popular and cheapest ways to run Split-Flap TV. Fire TV uses a slightly different install because Split-Flap TV isn't in the Amazon Appstore, you side-load it with the free Downloader app. It takes a couple of minutes.
A Fire TV Stick plugs into any TV's HDMI port and turns it into a smart screen. Because the Split-Flap TV app is distributed as an Android app (APK) rather than through the Amazon Appstore, you install it using Amazon's own free Downloader app and allow it to install once. This is a normal, safe process that Amazon supports.
Step by step

Install the Downloader app
On your Fire TV, search the Amazon Appstore for Downloader and install it, it's free and made for exactly this.

Allow installs from Downloader
Go to Settings > My Fire TV > Developer options and turn on Install unknown apps for Downloader. (On some Fire TVs you enable Developer options by selecting the device serial number a few times.)

Open Downloader and enter the app link
Open Downloader and type the Split-Flap TV app link from your welcome email or account, then let it download the APK.

Install and open
When the download finishes, choose Install, then Open to launch Split-Flap TV.

Sign in or pair
Sign in with your account, or enter the on-screen pairing code into your control panel. Your board goes live.
- ·Once installed, you can delete the APK file Downloader saved to free up space, the app stays installed.
- ·Set the Fire TV to not sleep, or wake it to the Split-Flap TV app, so the board stays on all day.
- ·A basic Fire TV Stick (around $30) is plenty, you don't need the 4K model for a text board.
Troubleshooting
The Install button is greyed out or blocked
You haven't allowed installs from Downloader yet. Go back to Settings > My Fire TV > Developer options and enable Install unknown apps for the Downloader app, then try again.
I can't find Developer options
Open Settings > My Fire TV > About, highlight the device name or serial number and click it about seven times to unlock Developer options.
