Keeping your screen on & live all day

A few one-time settings keep your board showing all day without going dark or dropping offline.

Split-Flap TV needs three things to keep running: the app open on the TV, power, and an internet connection. Most issues where a screen goes blank come down to the device's sleep settings or a dropped network, both easy to fix.

Step by step

  1. 01

    Turn off device sleep

In your TV or streaming device settings, set the screen or sleep timer to Never (or a long interval) so the display stays on during opening hours.

  2. 02

Keep the app in the foreground

Leave Split-Flap TV as the open app. If the device returns to its home screen after a power cut, re-open the app.

  3. 03

    Use a stable connection

Wi-Fi is fine, but a strong signal or wired connection keeps live data flowing without interruptions.

  4. 04

    Consider always-on power

If you want the board on before staff arrive, leave the device powered and the TV set to switch to the right HDMI input on startup.

§ Good to know
  • ·It's normal to turn the TV off overnight, the board comes straight back when you power on and open the app.
  • ·The clicking flap sound can be turned off in the control panel if the room needs to stay quiet.

Troubleshooting

The board froze or stopped updating

Close and re-open the app on the TV, and check the device still has internet. Live variables need a connection to refresh.

The screen goes black after a while

The device's sleep timer is turning the display off. Set it to Never while the board is in use.
