The failure nobody plans for is not the board showing the wrong thing. It is the board showing nothing, in a room you did not walk through today, for a week. A screen gets unplugged so somebody can charge a phone, the power blinks overnight, a cleaner switches a socket off at the wall. The TV comes back on. The board does not, and you find out when a customer mentions it.
Three things now deal with that between them. Screens restart on their own, they report in on their own, and you can look at any of them without going near it.
Start after reboot is a setting on the screen itself, and it is the one worth switching on first. With it on, the app comes back when the power does and returns to the board it was showing. Nobody has to be in the building, and there is nothing to switch back on.
Heartbeat is the screen checking in by itself. The dashboard lists every screen you run with the time it last reported, so a board that has dropped off is visible as a status rather than as a complaint. You find out before anybody else does, which is the whole point.
Remote screenshots close the last gap. Knowing a screen is powered on is not the same as knowing it is showing the right thing. Ask any screen for a picture of what is on it right now, from anywhere, and you get the actual board rather than an assumption about it. Useful when the screen is on another floor, and necessary when it is in another building.
