Quick edit: change the board from your phone

Whoever notices the board is wrong is almost never sitting at a computer. They are behind the bar, on the shop floor, at the front desk with somebody waiting, or on a field at an event. If fixing a price means finding a laptop in the office, the board stops being accurate somewhere around the second week, and after that people stop reading it.

This is what quick edit means. Everything you can do to a board on a laptop you can do on your phone: build it, change a line, correct a price, swap the whole board for a different one. It is not a cut-down version with three things you are allowed to touch, which is what people usually expect from a mobile mode and why they do not bother trying it.

So boards are built and changed on a phone, not just on a laptop. Change a price, swap a line, correct a name, and the screen flips to it in seconds while you are still standing where you noticed.

It matters most in the places nobody is at a desk. A keg blows mid-service and the tap list is right again before the next customer reaches the bar. A supplier lets you down and the special comes off the menu during the rush rather than after it. An event runs late and the board says so, from the field, without anyone going back to the office.

It also changes who can do it. When updating the board takes a phone and about a minute, it stops being one person's job and starts being whoever is on shift, which is the difference between a board that stays current and one that quietly goes stale.
